Overview
Dr. Wonmi So is an instructor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rutgers New Jersey
Medical School. She received her Ph.D. in Life Sciences from Korea University in Seoul, South
Korea.
Following her doctoral training, Dr. So worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln, where her research focused on the molecular mechanisms of plant lipid
metabolism. She subsequently completed additional postdoctoral training at the University of
Nebraska Medical Center under the supervision of Dr. So-Youn Kim and later held an instructor
position at the same institution. During this time, her research investigated ovarian protection from
chemotherapy-induced ovarian damage and the molecular and cellular mechanisms regulating
folliculogenesis in primary ovarian insufficiency.
Dr. So later joined Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where her research focuses on identifying
molecular pathways involved in ovarian damage and developing strategies to preserve and improve
ovarian function using mouse models.
