Dr. Peter P. Yonclas as an Associate Professor with the Department of Surgery. He will serve as the Director of Trauma Rehabilitation at the University Hospital and have a dual appointment in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the New Jersey Medical School. He joins the Department after five years with the NJMS Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Yonclas received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, and his medical degree from UMDNJ-NJMS. He then completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UMDNJ-Kessler. He specializes in brain injury, as well as musculoskeletal, amputee and electrodiagnostic medicine. Dr. Yonclas also serves as the Director of the Acquired Brain Injury Clinic, which focuses on the care of indigent brain injured patients who would not otherwise receive specialized care. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Yonclas supervises residents and two brain injury fellows throughout the year in a longitudinal clinic and during monthly rotations. For his clinical expertise in traumatic brain injury he was recognized as a "Best Doctor" in 2007-2008. He has numerous publications on topics ranging from lower extremity prostheses to recovery from central pontine myelinolysis and has a strong interest in mild brain injury. He has lectured extensively on brain injury, as well as musculoskeletal and electrodiagnostic medicine.
