Dr. Suut Gokturk is a gastroenterologist at University Hospital (UH) Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. He completed his advanced endoscopy fellowship at Rutgers University. He earned his medical degree from Istanbul Medical School, where he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Gastroenterology. Dr. Gokturk later completed an additional Internal Medicine residency at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT, followed by a Gastroenterology fellowship at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York.
Dr. Gokturk's clinical expertise focuses on advanced endoscopic interventions. His areas of interest include Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), Gastrointestinal stenting, Tissue resection and Third-space Endoscopy, such as Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM), Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR). He also performs general gastrointestinal procedures, including esophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy. Dedicated to both patient care and medical education, Dr. Gokturk strives to advance the field of gastroenterology through innovative techniques and the training of future healthcare professionals.
Dr. Gokturk currently serves as the Director of Endoscopic Oncology and Program Director of the Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship. He is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), and the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (NYSGE). He speaks English, Turkish, and Kurdish.
