Stephen Alerhand MD is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine. He serves as Co-Director of the Emergency Ultrasound Division and Director of the Clinical Ultrasound Fellowship. He also directs the Undergraduate Medical Education curriculum that incorporates ultrasound into the learning of anatomy, pathophysiology, and the physical exam. He completed both his Emergency Medicine Residency and Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. During this time, he was bestowed local and national awards in emergency ultrasound education. In addition to Emergency Medicine, Dr. Alerhand is board-certified in Critical Care Echocardiography (CCeXAM). He has published numerous peer-reviewed studies, reviews, and book chapters in emergency ultrasound and echocardiography. He operates the US Probes section for the EMdocs.net site that receives up to 9,000 views per day. Nationally, Dr. Alerhand serves as Secretary of the American College of Emergency Physicians - Ultrasound Section. He also serves as Senior Content Editor for the PEERcert+ in Advanced Ultrasound for the Focused Practice Designation in Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography (AEMUS). Internationally, he is the Director of the Annual Critical Care Ultrasound Workshop for the Israeli Association of Emergency Medicine, and has lectured to audiences in Mexico, Spain, Peru, and the Dominican Republic on ultrasound and echocardiography.
