Overview

I studied oxygen sensitivity of neurons in the nucleus tractus solitarii (NTS) for my doctoral work at
the University of South Florida in Tampa and did post-doctoral work on excitatory and inhibitory
synaptic circuits in the NTS at the Universiy of Missouri in Columbia. I joined the faculty at Wright
State University's Boonshoft School of Medicine in 2016 where I was the principal physiology
educator and a course director for 2/3 of the first year of the undergraduate medical education
curriculum. I joined Rutgers Newark in July, 2024 and look forward to contributing to the continuing
development and improvement of the New Jersey Medical School curriculum as a course co-director,
lecturer, and physiology thread director.
