Dr. Jay A. Graham is a board-certified transplant surgeon and Associate Professor of Surgery. He
specializes in liver, kidney, and pancreas transplantation, with considerable experience in liver
transplantation including issues like early graft dysfunction, small for size syndrome, portal flow
modulation, use of medically complex donor livers, and determining strategies for liver allocation while
addressing inequities in access to transplant care.

Overview

Jay A. Graham MD, MBA, FACS is joining the Department of Surgery as an Associate Professor in the
Division of Transplant and HPB Surgery. A board-certified transplant surgeon, Dr. Graham brings
extensive experience in liver, kidney, and pancreas transplantation.

He joined us from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center, where he
served as Surgical Director of Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation. Dr. Graham earned his medical
degree from Georgetown University, where he also completed his surgical residency. He went on to a
surgical research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and an abdominal transplant
fellowship at Columbia University New York Presbyterian. He also holds an Executive MBA from
Yeshiva University's Sy Syms School of Business.

Dr. Graham has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and numerous textbook chapters on
transplant surgery, liver and pancreas transplantation, and healthcare disparities. He is recognized
nationally for his leadership in transplant surgery, his commitment to reducing disparities in access to
care, and his research in organ preservation and allocation.

His arrival strengthens University Hospital's mission of delivering world-class, equitable transplant
care.
