Overview

Dr. Hubbi is a board certified radiologist and the section chief of breast imaging and intervention since 2009, as well as, the radiology residency program director since 2015. His clinical responsibilities include breast imaging as well as body imaging. He has continued to grow as a breast imager through the years and feels privileged to be part of an institution that values a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Over the years, Dr. Hubbi has been given opportunities to enhance his skills in administration and graduate medical education through his leadership roles in the clinic and residency program. Furthermore, Dr. Hubbi has had numerous experiences in grant supported community outreach efforts.

Radiology-pathology correlation of breast tumor size and relationship to hormone receptor status

We are currently comparing measurements of the size of invasive carcinomas of the
breast as found on ultrasound imaging and comparing it with the true size as
described on final pathology report following surgical excision.

There is no consensus regarding what imaging modality is most reliable for the pre-
operative measurement of invasive breast carcinoma. In addition, there is no clear
explanation for why ultrasound seems to be more accurate predictor of tumor size
sometimes, but less accurate other times. We would like to investigate if hormone
receptor status has any affect on this. If it does, perhaps we can more reliably say,
for example, that if a tumor is ER/PR positive, the ultrasound measurement is not
reliable, but ultrasound measurement of a HER2 positive tumor can be deemed reliable.
This would aid the surgeon, medical oncologist, and radiation oncologist in terms of
how to approach a treatment plan. In addition, this information will contribute to
the overall understanding of the pathology of invasive breast carcinomas.
