Overview
Dr. Harpreet Kaur is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Rutgers-New Jersey
Medical School and serves as the Section Chief of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at University Hospital,
Newark. She is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in both General Pediatrics and
Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, earning the latter certification in 2010.
Dr. Kaur obtained her medical degree in India in 1997 before relocating to the United States. She
completed her residency at the State University of New York, Downstate-FHMC, from 2000 to 2003,
followed by a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore
Medical Center, NY, from 2006 to 2009.
Following her fellowship, she began her career as an attending neonatologist at Saint Peters University
Hospital, one of New Jersey's busiest perinatal centers. Since January 2016, she has been a faculty
member at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School, where she plays a key role in medical education,
supervising pediatric and emergency medicine residents, and providing care for critically ill newborns in
the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which sees over 1,500 admissions annually. She has
also been actively involved in high-risk infant follow-up care.
Dr. Kaur has been recognized multiple times as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and a New Jersey Top
Doctor. She has contributed extensively to peer-reviewed journals and has authored chapters in
pediatric textbooks published by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
