Overview
Dr. Chokshi is an expert in cancer disease and treatment.
Prior to joining the faculty, he completed his General Surgery training at Seton Hall
(2008) and then went on to complete
two fellowships; one in Minimally Invasive Surgical Oncology at Geisinger (2009) and
a second in Surgical Oncology at the James
Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University (2011).
Dr. Chokshi has been on faculty at New Jersey Medical School - Rutgers since 2011.
In 2014 he was promoted to Section Chief of Surgical Oncology.
In 2015 he was selected as the Chair of the Oncology Committee at CINJ - University
Hospital. He has successfully lead this
program to accreditation twice by the American College of Surgeons - Commission on
Cancer.
In 2018 he was promoted to an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery.
To date at NJMS, Dr. Chokshi has published 27 peer reviewed manuscripts, mentored 22
students/residents/faculty, and has sat on
national committees. In addition, he has obtained NIH and Foundation grant funding
for basic science research.
Dr. Chokshi has been voted as a NJ Top Doctor each year since 2014. As an educator,
he has been awarded the "Excellence in
Teaching" award by the General Surgical Chief Residents three times.
He has been active in Global Surgery providing surgery and education on four
different
continents.
Dr. Chokshi expects to complete a degree in Master of Public Health by December 2018
