Dr. Ana Lucia Romero joined the faculty at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2025 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Liver Disease and Transplant Hepatology. She practices as a Transplant Hepatologist at University Hospital. Dr. Romero received her medical degree with academic honors from the University of Zulia in Venezuela in 2016. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at RWJBH-Trinitas Regional Medical Center in New Jersey and her fellowship in Hepatology at Rutgers NJMS in 2025. She is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Her research interests include Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease and Hepatocellular carcinoma.
