Dr. Chew, MD, MPH is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She graduated from Brown University and received her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York and her Infectious Diseases fellowship at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center. Following her fellowship, she was an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Communicable Disease Bureau at the New Jersey Department of Health and then served as a Medical Specialist at the New York City Department of Health Bureau of Immunization. She also completed an MPH from Rutgers School of Public Health.
Dr. Chew has been at NJMS since 1999, where she has been active in HIV primary care and participated in numerous clinical trials in HIV treatment and prevention. She is currently the Medical Director for the Infection Control and Prevention Committee and Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at University Hospital in Newark. Her special interests include antimicrobial resistance, optimal antimicrobial use, and hospital epidemiology.
