Overview
Robert E. Gross, MD, PhD is the MBNA/Bowman Professor of Neurosurgery at Emory University, with appointments in Neurology, Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering.
Dr. Gross completed his neurosurgical residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by fellowship training in functional and stereotactic neurosurgery at University of Toronto and epilepsy surgery at Yale University. He is presently Director of the Emory MD/PhD Program, and co-founder and Director of the Emory Neuromodulation and Technology Innovation Center (ENTICe). In addition, he directs the Translational Neuroengineering Research Group, which focuses on neuromodulation for epilepsy and movement disorders, including closed-loop feedback strategies. Dr. Gross is active in organized neurosurgery, holding a variety of positions in neurosurgical and neurological societies including Secretary/Treasurer of the Amercian Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, and is an editor for several major journals.
Dr. Gross’s research interests include neuromodulation and novel surgical techniques for movement disorders, depression, epilepsy and memory. His research has been continuously supported by the NIH and various foundations.
