The director of the New Jersey Comprehensive Stroke Center at University Hospital, Dr. Andrea Hidalgo is a
graduate of Cornell University Medical College (currently Weill Cornell Medical College), and completed her
Neurology Residency at New York Hospital. She is board certified in Neurology and subspecialty board certified
in Vascular Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and has 20 years of clinical
experience in cerebrovascular neurology. She is responsible for the overall administration of the stroke
program: design and implementation of policies and procedures; oversight of data collection, reporting, and
quality improvement initiatives; staff, patient, and community education. She is an Assistant Professor in the
Department of Neurology & Neurosciences, co-directs the third year medical student clinical clerkship. In
addition to caring for inpatients with acute stroke, Dr. Hidalgo sees patients with all types of neurological
problems in her private practice in the Doctor's Office Center, as well as in the hospital's General Neurology
clinic and Stroke clinic.
